May 5, 1789- Estates General meets at the Palace of Versailles
June 17, 1789- The Representatives of the Third Estate create the National Assembly and swear not to stop until there is a new constitution for France
July 14, 1789- Armed citizens of France storm the Bastille (Current French Independence Day)
August 26, 1789- National Assembly publishes the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen
Ocotber 5, 1789- Peasent women march on the Palace of Versailles
June 21, 1791- King and Queen try to flee to Varennes but are caught and brought back to Paris
September 13, 1791- King accepts Constitution
August 10, 1792- French people attack the Tuileries Palace
January 21, 1793- King Louis XVI is executed
July 13, 1793- Jean-Paul Marat is murdered by Charlotte Corday
October 14, 1793- Marie Antoinette is executed
July 27, 1794- Maximilien Robespierre is exceuted; Reign of Terror ends
December 2, 1804- Napolean Bonaparte becomes Emperor
